I've been reading a lot of blogs and under extremely bored circumstances, going through other people's scrapbooks.
And I ABSOLUTELY DETEST the following slang-

Word-'Ma'
Usually used instead of a 'My'.
'Ma phones not working.'

Word-'Dis Dat Der Dem De'
When did D replace Th?
'I dink dat dat ding ain't workin'

Word-Aint
Always always always used wrong
'Ain't No Sunshine!'

Word-'Z and X'
Used instead of S.
'Ma frenz.Itz.Shez.Coz.Plzz.Thanx.'

Phrase-'Wuzzzz up!'
What's up became Wus up into Wuzzup into Wussup into Whuddup into a plain simple Sup now.

Chao..IT IS NOT CHAO...ITS CIAO!
Ciao is Italian.
Chao would refer to something from Sonic The Hedgehog videogames.

Kewl
When the fffffffffff(I'll stop there since Momzilla will read this and ask me to go wash my mouth with soap and ask me 'Is this why I put you in a convent?') did 'cool' become 'kewl'.Sick.People who say that are so not 'kewl'.

Sigh.
Yes.Everyone's entitled to their own way of speaking, typing and communicating.
And yes, I've often heard the argument where 'as long as the other person understands what you're trying to say, what difference does it make?'.
The other day, 9.5 and I were merely 'relating' to Iyer on how a certain classmate said 'har' instead of 'our' for 'hour'.Well, everone understood him when he said 'After one har'.I corrected him later saying that the 'H' was silent in words like 'hour', 'honest' and 'honour'.Iyer objected saying that it wasn't a big deal because the influence of our mother tongue plays a major role in pronounciation and all this was very trivial.
If there is a right way to pronounce something, why can't we follow that instead of just trying to get the message across? Is it wrong to change?Do people get offencded when their English is corrected? If its the universal language isn't it important that we learn to speak it the right way?

I'm not saying I'm perfect.I do make mistakes too.
But..
I don't know.
This post is being written by an extremely irritated person.
I hate people trying to adopt a certain slang associated with rap music.
Hell..Its alright when they do it.
Its stupid when we try to talk like that.
This is a stupid post.
Sigh.
Why do I post for the sake of posting?

hey...no fair...slang is cool and I use half of the slang you mentioned in your post (only while typing though),it's just more convenient.

i think the use of slang inadvertantly portrays that the person is trying to be something out of the ordinary, something that differs from convention, in other words, he's(generally)trying too hard to be something different...
dont come sunning at me with an axe, this is just my opinion.

@ ganesh-who said slang was cool?convenience and cool are different

@ fatty-why the hell would i come sunning at you.what is 'sunning' anyway.stop preparing for your GRE!!!!

@ ganesh-welcome to the world of fatty! your always left wondering what he meant and where he finds words like that

Well, the post had words like "Sigh!"
Whats the whole point? Dont we all use it? [:o]
Anyway, something I observed, When the FUCK did FUCK become fffffffffffff?????

I mean, if you want to cuss, then cuss hard. Moreover, thats something we do to censor words isint it? like - Fu*k, ffff, some retards do even this ->#$@&

And yeah, if people use shortcuts for convinience or think it is "kewl" then bloody hell. Dont feed on the language. Schools parted education and mobiles took them away. Too bad. I COMPLETELY agree with you on this. Neat post.

Just a Q, out of context though, what makes you think I cant write poetry? If you scroll down on my blog, you will see kickass too [:d]

@ acid manja-was ganja mistyped manja?

I end most of my posts with a Sigh.
Sigh is NOT slang.
Lol...acid manja and poetry...poetry is for the keats types...you just didn't seem like that...
but then again i love assuming

@ ganesh- fatty meant running..not sunning...and we all thought he was so clever for using new words....damn!

Traveling Flipflops said...

Ah! Point no.1, No, Ganja was NOT misspelt. It is a kannada slang name.
And when on earth did I say, "Sigh" Was slang?
When?
When?
And yeah, how much/how/what do you know of me that you decided I cant handle poetry? :D
If you are on orkut, then add me. My name has changed to "Jobless Jagga"

i think..using words like shows tht persons creativity of making more funny words giving the same meaning within the 26 letters...actually..instead of knowing the meaning of known word..it really stimulates the brain to think to know what exactly the person tries to say..:)
