It has several advantages. Several in terms of the number of websites I can browse alone before the people I work with and my boss comes in.
Speaking of co-workers, I don't like the way the Russian looks at me. Always suspicious, always wary. But then again, she's not worth writing about.
I've been speaking a lot to my friend A. And we came to the sad realization that our accents have changed. Not terribly. But definitely a few words here and there. And rather unconsciously. There is no deliberate attempt to change the way we speak. But while conversing with an American daily, its bound to change just a little.
But amongst other Indians, I speak very very local. More local than I've ever been in Madras. Which surprised me when the eyeshadow wearing friend of the ex spoke with a ridiculous accent. 'She's been in the US for a longer time now. She did her undergrad here' he said testily, in her defense. 'But seriously, what happened to the 20 years in Madras?' I asked, more judging than curious. I don't get it. I met this girl over the summer who's been here for 5 years, had a white boyfriend and spoke with not a slight trace of an accent. Maybe its just the East coast versus the West. Me Midwest don't understand.
I'm being very judgmental and hypocritical.
Meh.
